Tottenham reportedly open talks over swoop for Bournemouth’s Josh King

Reports in the English media this evening suggest that Spurs have taken the first steps towards securing the signing of Bournemouth star Joshua King.

Cherries down

Following a 5-year stay in the Premier League, Bournemouth’s return to the Championship was confirmed late last month.

A difficult campaign for the Cherries, during which star men Ryan Fraser, Callum Wilson and more struggled to produce their brilliant best, saw the club’s battle against relegation come down to the final day.

Heading into Gameweek 38 of the Premier League season, all of Bournemouth, Watford and Aston Villa were still in with a shot of maintaining their top-flight status.

And Eddie Howe’s men, to their credit, did their part, securing an impressive 3-1 win at Goodison Park.

This, however, did not prove enough to keep the Vitality outfit up, as Aston Villa’s 1-1 stalemate at West Ham doomed both Bournemouth and Watford to life back in the Championship.

King to Spurs?

The weeks since the Cherries’ relegation, meanwhile, have seen something of an outflux take place at the club.

Nathan Ake of coursed joined Manchester City, Aaron Ramsdale made the move to Sheffield United, whilst manager Eddie Howe brought an end to his 8-year Bournemouth stay.

Ryan Fraser, Simon Francis and Andrew Surman, meanwhile, are now all free agents following the expiration of their respective contracts.

If the latest speculation in the media this evening is to be believed, though, then the Vitality exits appear far from over.

The latest club ready to take advantage of the difficult situation in which the Cherries find themselves? Tottenham.

As per a pair of reports over the last couple of hours, not only are Spurs keen on signing Joshua King, but the Lilywhites have gone as far as to open talks with the Norwegian’s representatives over a move to north London.

Jose Mourinho is said to be desperate to add further attacking reinforcements to his squad, to provide a backup option to Harry Kane.

And King, according to both talkSPORT and the Chronicle, has been identified as the ideal man to fill this role.

Interestingly, the 28-year-old is actually the 2nd Bournemouth striker to be tipped for a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, following previous links with Callum Wilson:
