Tunisian Diplomat Named Head Of Arab League Mission In Geneva

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad has announced the appointment of Hichem Bayoudh, the ministry’s secretary-general, as ambassador and head of the Arab League mission in Geneva.

The ministry, on Wednesday ,said that Ambassador Bayoudh received his credentials on Monday as head of the League’s mission to the United Nations, its organs, specialised agencies and international organisations based in Geneva and the Swiss Confederation from the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, during a meeting held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.

The ministry noted that this appointment confirms “Tunisia’s constant keenness to work, in cooperation with the Arab countries, to develop the system of joint Arab action and represents a new recognition of the excellence of Tunisian diplomatic experts and their brilliance at the Arab level,” the statement said.

It added that “this position is important because of its role in strengthening cooperation between the League of Arab States and international organisations in Geneva, especially the United Nations, in addition to following up on the most important regional and international issues, especially the just Palestinian cause”
