Lagos state police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that they are currently decongesting cells in the state following the prolonged strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
Adejobi explained that the decongestion exercise is carried out in conjunction with the office of the Chief Judge and Attorney-General of the state.
Although he didn’t reveal the number of people who have been granted bail since the exercise commenced, the police spokesperson stated that Magistrates and District Prosecutors have been directed by the Chief Judge to assess case files and grant bail to some suspects.
