West Ham target Patson Daka is ‘fully committed’ to Red Bull Salzburg according to his agency, seemingly scuppering a move to east London.
West Ham’s striker situation
After the sale of Sebastian Haller to Ajax, West Ham look very light in their striking department and are only an injury away from a serious problem. Not only this, but the current crop of forwards that the club have are struggling to score with the side only sneaking past Stockport County 1-0 in their 3rd round FA Cup tie despite starting an impressive front three on paper.
This has led to reported links with a number of strikers during the winter window including Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. However, it was recently suggested that the England youth international would not be leaving the Gunners this window and therefore the Hammers will be seeking other targets for a possible replacement for the departed Ivorian.

David Moyes had this to say on the search for a striker, “One thing you need to do as a manager, you need to make sure that you have spaces to bring people in, if you don’t have spaces then all you do is gather players and it becomes more difficult.”
With Haller gone, the space is certainly vacant.
Daka focused on Salzburg
One player who seemingly will not be making the move to the London Stadium is Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka.
The Zambian forward has been linked with a host of clubs including West Ham. His impressive form for the Austrian champions has seen no shortage of suitors even being touted with a possible move to Arsenal with the club reportedly tracking him for some time now.
The 22-year old has been a prolific force for Salzburg and has filled the shoes of the departed Erling Haaland as if he was never even there. With 15 goals in the 17 matches this season, it is unsurprising to see the forward linked with a move to one of Europe’s top 5 leagues and in particular the Premier League.

His rapid pace yet strong frame enable him to hold off players whilst finishing calmly in the final third when opportunities arise.
However, it appears a deal for the player is unlikely after his agency took to social media to pour cold water on any possible agreement for the Zambian International.
“Patson Daka is fully committed to his club Red Bull Salzburg. 12man, his agent, will not be providing a running commentary on the media speculation in every transfer window.”

West Ham will need to move onto another target if they want to add reinforcement in the final third of the team before the close of the winter window.
