Spurs hammer Marine

Tottenham were in FA Cup 3rd round action on Sunday afternoon, versus minnows Marine.

Spurs, of course, headed into the tie as favourites to advance, with Marine plying their trade in the 8th-tier of English football.

As such, it came as little surprise when the Lilywhites emerged with a comfortable win.

Marine gave Spurs something of a scare early in the match, rifling an effort off Joe Hart’s crossbar.

However, from then on, Tottenham went on to dominate the tie.

Carlos Vinicius bagged himself a hat-trick during the first-half, with Lucas Moura having also been on target prior to the interval.

What Tanganga told Devine

The north Londoners went on to add just one more goal during the second 45, courtesy of youngster Alfie Devine.

Devine actually made history on Sunday, by becoming both the youngster player to line out and score for Spurs:

Now, on the back of his debut, Japhet Tanganga, who was introduced alongside Devine vs Marine, has revealed what he told the young midfielder before he entered the fray:

“He’s trained a few times with us and every time he’s come up he’s looked a real spark. He’s doing well.

“When he was coming on [with me at half-time], I just told him, ‘Keep it simple, do what you’ve been doing in training – there’s a reason why you’ve been training up’.

“Today you saw glimpses of his ability, a really professional performance. I’m really happy for him to get his first professional goal. He’s a really good player and there’s more to come as well.”
