Sergio Aguero has been listed as ‘unavailable’ for Manchester City’s FA Cup match with Birmingham & reports suggest a Covid-related issue.
Aguero unavailable
Sergio Aguero has been made unavailable for Manchester City’s FA Cup game against Birmingham. Reports describe a possible injury issue but there are some sources suggesting a Covid-19 related problem.
The Athletic’s Sam Lee wrote, “Aguero is listed as ‘unavailable’ by City today, not injured. Obviously that leaves things open to interpretation but I’m sure Guardiola will have an answer and other enquiries will be made. Could be post-meniscus complications, like Mendy had last season when he was unavailable.”

However, foreign media are suggesting that this is a Covid-19 related case whereby Aguero has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive and it is therefore necessary for him to self isolate.
Agüero is not injury. Some Covid-19 case close to him and it is necessary some quarantine until a new test. He hasn’t it at this moment but it is for protocol.

Manchester City have suffered an outbreak of Covid-19 with several players needing to self isolate and it could be that Aguero has come into close contact with one of these individuals.
If Aguero does indeed need to self isolate, should he test positive, for the next 10 days this would mean missing not only the FA Cup tie with Birmingham but 3 league games against Brighton (13th), Crystal Palace (17th) and Aston Villa (20th), provided the 10 day period began on the 10th of January.
