Woman who reported daughter’s defilement by grandfather, uncle chased from Kathiani home

The mother of the 11 year old girl who was reportedly defiled by her grandfather and uncle in Kathiani has been excommunicated from her home by family members.

She says the family members accused her of defaming the family and demanded that she leave with her other children.

“Baada ya washukiwa wa kitendo hicho kutiwa mbaroni, mzee wangu ameniumiza moyo, ameniambia mimi ni muuaji na sifai kuwa hapa, nibebe watoto wangu wote niende, watu wa familia walifanya mkutano na hawakutaka kunihusisha nijue wasema nini,” she said.

Before reporting the matter to the police, the family members had apparently held talks in a bid to have the incident resolved amongst them.

However, the mother recorded a statement with the police leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

The distraught women was then forced to flee her home and camp outside the Machakos Children’s Office for assistance .

While narrating her ordeal, she pleaded for justice for her daughter but also for the government to provide safety for her and her children.
