Ziyech & Chilwell reportedly on course to feature for Chelsea vs Southampton

Chelsea vs Southampton

Chelsea’s first game back following the international break will see the Blues welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge this coming Saturday.

The Londoners head into the tie in rather patchy form.

Granted, the club’s last outing did see them put Crystal Palace to the sword by four goals to nil.

But, prior to that, Chelsea had been knocked out of the League Cup, held to a 3-3 draw by a struggling West Brom side, and beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.

As for Southampton, they too have had a rather inconsistent start to the campaign.

The Saints currently sit 11th in the Premier League, having won two and lost two of their opening four league outings.

Hakim Ziyech & Ben Chilwell expected to feature for Chelsea vs Southampton

Ahead of their meeting with Southampton, Chelsea, though, appear to have been handed a boost on the injury front.

The news comes courtesy of Simon Johnson of the Athletic, who claims that Hakim Ziyech is finally expected to make his competitive Chelsea debut this weekend.

Ziyech agreed to join the Blues in February, but has been sidelined since picking up a knock vs Brighton in pre-season.

Johnson also provided an update on Ben Chilwell, who left the England camp earlier this week due to an injury flare-up.

Despite this, it is understood that the full-back is on course to feature vs Southampton.

Edouard Mendy, however, looks set to miss out, after picking up an injury whilst on international duty:
