Real Madrid has agreed a deal with Erling Haaland to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports. The 21-year-old, who is widely considered to be one of the world’s most feared marksmen, has been heavily linked with a handful of Europe’s biggest clubs since the end of last season.

Haaland has scored 80 goals in just 79 appearances for Dortmund since joining the Bundesliga heavyweights from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.

He is said to have a cut-price release clause of around £68million written into his contract, which is set to come into effect in the summer.

Real Madrid has reportedly been targeting Haaland for some time, while the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in his services ahead of next season.

However, it seems as though Los Blancos may have already won the race for his signature after a decisive meeting was held in Monaco earlier this week.

The Spanish giants have closed a ‘preferential agreement’ with Haaland’s representatives to bring him to the Bernabeu in the summer, according to Sport.

It is claimed that Real Madrid chiefs recently held a summit in Monaco to finalise the deal, with Rafaela Pimenta and Alf-Inge Haaland conducting negotiations on the player’s side.

Although an agreement has been reached between the two parties, the proposed move could still hang in the balance if Haaland changes his mind between now and next season.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid was yet to strike a deal at club level with Dortmund and are said to be planning to offer Luka Jovic in a player-plus-cash deal in an attempt to drive down Haaland’s asking price.

It remains to be seen whether Haaland will eventually decide to seek a new challenge in the summer or stay in Germany for another season, with his current deal at Dortmund set to expire in 2024.
