American actor, William Hurt dies at 71

Popular American actor, William Hurt, has died at the age of 71. The late actor was known for his thrilling movies, “The Big Chill” and “A History of Violence.”

In a statement by his son, Will, he described the actor’s death as a great loss.

He said, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar-winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.”

Hurt’s first film role was as an obsessed scientist in the KenRussell’s film of 1980, “Altered States.”

Some of his prestige were on his readiness to act odd characterssuch as a Russian police officer in “Gorky Park” (1983), a wealthyand aloof husband in Woody Allen’s “Alice” (1990) and a manseeking to build a machine that would benefit blind people in “Untilthe End of the World” (1991).

In 1985, he won the best actor Oscar for playing a gay prisoner inthe movie, “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”

Also, he nominated for Oscars as a teacher of deaf students in the 1986 and 1987 movies, “Children of a Lesser God”  and “BroadcastNews, respectively.

Although, his son’s announcement did not indicate if any disease added to the actor’s death, in May 2018, he had been diagnosed withterminal prostate cancer.
