Arab foreign ministers have agreed to form a liaison committee aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Sudan and ensuring humanitarian corridors for civilians, according to Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry.

The committee will also work to protect state institutions in Sudan from the threat of collapse. Shoukry stressed the importance of returning to political dialogue in Sudan as the country faces existential threats.

“It is necessary to return to political dialogue in Sudan as it faces existential threats,” he said.

The decision to form the liaison committee reflects the need for Arabs to move quickly and effectively.

The ministers held an emergency meeting of the Arab League in Cairo to discuss the Syrian crisis and the Palestinian cause.
