Blind Ghanaian Man allegedly Beheades Wife for threatening to divorce himA 71-year-old visually impaired man, George Mudor, has been remanded into police custody by the Nkawkaw Magistrate Court in the Kwawu West Municipality of the Eastern region, Ghana, for allegedly killing his wife.
The suspect reportedly hacked his wife, Madam Grace, 65, to death with a machete on March 14, 2023, while she was sleeping in Abepotia, near Nkawkaw.
According to reports, the victim had threatened divorce because she was tired of taking care of her blind husband.
Mudor, who lost his sight five years ago, admitted to the crime in court and pleaded for mercy before His Worship Isaac Agyei.
He explained that his wife had enjoyed the blessings in his life with him but threatened to leave him when their situation turned bad.
The suspect’s co-tenants alleged that the murder was premeditated, as he had made such threats before, although they had taken them lightly due to his condition.
The deceased’s brother, Samuel Aliffo, expressed shock at the suspect’s actions and called for justice to prevail.
Mudor is expected to appear before the court again on April 5, 2023.
