An internet fraudster identified as Imole Oluwasegun has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, on Monday, September 21.
It was reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Oluwasegun after getting information about the activities of some young boys in Ikorodu, an area in Lagos, who were living flamboyantly with an unknown means of livelihood.
The aforementioned agency disclosed that Oluwasegun engaged in a love scam and used fake identities to defraud unsuspecting members of the society.
Oluwasegun was accused of possessing fraudulent documents containing false pretenses, using fake documents and impersonation.
He pleaded guilty to the charges. Thereafter, the defendant and prosecution counsel, Joy Amahian and Okezie Chineye, reviewed the facts of the matter and urged the court to convict him accordingly.
While delivering her judgement, Justice Oluwatoyin Dada sentenced Oluwasegun to six months’ imprisonment with an option of N250,000 fine.
