2023 Women’s World Cup: Canada Send Out Ireland, Open Up Group B

Canada Women’s National Team have succeeded in opening up the Group B of the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 win over debutants the Republic of Ireland.

The Olympic Champions were held to a goalless draw by Nigeria’s Super Falcons while Ireland suffered a 1-0 defeat to Australia.

The Irish team took the lead in the first half but Canada levelled up through an own as the first stanza ended 1-1.

Canada took over the game in the second half and got a well-deserved goal through Adrian Leon off an assist from Sophie Schdmt and secured a 2-1 victory.

The victory took Canada to the top of the group ahead of Australia and Nigeria while Ireland are out of the competition following two losses from two games.
