Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been spotted training with Barcelona – despite no confirmation from Arsenal a transfer has taken place.
The Gabon international striker flew out to Spain on transfer deadline day in an apparent bid to push through a move to Barcelona.
His decision to take matters into his own hands and jet out to Spain took both Arsenal and Barcelona by surprise, as the two clubs were yet to strike a deal.
It then appeared that no deal was going to take place before Barcelona and Arsenal came to a late agreement.
Aubameyang is expected to be announced as a Barcelona player this Tuesday, with Arsenal cancelling his contract in north London and allowing him to leave on a free.
But no such deal has been yet confirmed, despite Mundo Deportivo reporting the forward took part in Barcelona’s Tuesday training session.
Aubameyang has fallen down the pecking order in north London in recent months, with Mikel Arteta stripping him of the captaincy.
Aubameyang has failed to adhere to Arteta’s “non-negotiable” standards on a few occasions in recent months, with the Gunners boss recently speaking out on the situation.
“The decision that we have taken as a club [to strip Aubameyang of the captaincy] is very clear. It is because we believe that he has failed to be committed at the level that we all expect and agreed. It is as simple as that,” Arteta explained.
“What I expect from any person in this football club, that is representing this badge, is passion and that he gives absolutely 100 per cent, that he puts the club in front of any personal interests and is able to do anything to fulfil the badge we have on the chest.
“Apart from that, you can listen to individuals and you can understand different cultures, but that commitment and passion has to be there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t.”
