Barcelona president Joan Laporta has suggested that his club will move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland during this summer’s transfer window.
The 21-year-old is widely expected to leave BVB at the end of the season, with a £68m release clause in his contract due to become active.
Real Madrid are thought to be the favourites for the Norway international, while Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea continue to be credited with an interest.
A recent report, though, claimed that Haaland is currently leaning towards a move to Barcelona.
Laporta has said that the club are “very excited” to have recently signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but are “on the right track” to further strengthen their squad this summer despite their financial problems.
“Haaland? Today we’re occupied and very excited with Aubameyang, who will score goals here. In June we will try to strengthen the team even more and we are on the right track,” Laporta told reporters.
Haaland has again been in impressive form for Dortmund during the 2021-22 campaign, finding the back of the net on 23 occasions in 20 appearances, in addition to contributing six assists.
