Nigeria track queen Tobi Amusan has paid tribute to her friend and new 100m Women’s hurdles champions. Danielle Williams.

The Jamaican sprung a surprise to clinch the women’s 100m hurdles title, eight years after the first world crown at the Beijing 2015 Olympics.

It was heartbreak for Nigerians after the World Record-holder finshed sixth in the race after having an anti-doping suspension for missed drug tests overturned on the eve of the championships.

Amusan showed true sportsmanship and was gracious in defeat, as she was the first person who told Danielle Williams that she had won the title, but the Jamaican was in total disbelief and doubted if she had truly won.

When Williams wheeled away in excitement Amusan still went after her to congratulate her track friend.

Amusan gave her thoughts on the Jamaican and new World Champions.

“She is the only person I can call my friend in the hurdle – She is genuine and she has been supporting me through it all.

“Am just glad that I was in the race to witness her win the world title and am just tapping from grace, hoping by next year I get my gold medal back.”

Recall Danielle Williams was happy for Amusan when she won in 2022 World Athletics Championship in Oregon after she finished 6th.
