The hope of Nigeria track star Tobi Amusan defending her title was dashed on Thursday as she finished in the 6th position in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in Budapest.

Amusan entered the championship as one of the top favourites for the event after she broke the record to win the title in Oregon in 2022.

The Nigerian International won her heat and also came first in the semi-final race on Wednesday but failed to retain her title as she lost in the final.

Amusan came in the distance 6th position with a time of 12.62 in a race won by the 2015 champion Danielle Williams of Jamaica.

Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn came second and America’s Keni Harrison finished in the 3rd position.
