Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup Bendel Insurance has qualified for the second round of the competition after edging ASO Chlef of Algeria in Algiers.
The Algerian side dominated the game and was able to peg back the Nigerian Federation Cup champion until late in the first half when they broke the deadlock.
ASO Chlef was awarded a penalty before the end of the first half but the Insurance goalkeeper put up a decent performance to stop the kick.
In the second half, the host continued their dominance but Bendel Insurance’s backline stood their ground for the entire duration of the game.
The game headed straight into penalty shoot and it was Tanimu Benjamin who scored the final to secure a 3-4 win for Bendel Insurance.
