Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon has apologized to Nigerians for the awful performance of the team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Simon, who plays as a forward or left winger for Ligue 1 club Nantes reassured Nigerians that they will bounce back to winning ways.
As obtained on his official X account, Simon said: “Not the result we wanted but we will surely bounce back. Big apologies to our fans, you deserve better than the performance against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
“We have overcome so many challenges in the past. And now is the time to reflect and come back stronger.”
Simon’s stout shielding of the ball and good decision in the box allowed Kelechi Iheanacho to slam past the goalkeeper for Nigeria’s equalizer after 67 minutes in Butare.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume in June 2024 with Nigeria hosting South Africa, current leaders of Group C, before traveling to an away game against Benin Republic.
