Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen looks set to recover on time for Napoli’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Liverpool on Wednesday.
Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli has addressed the injury worries surrounding the striker who suffered an injury in the club’s 2-1 win over away to Lazio on Saturday.
Osimhen did not attend the team’s Monday training session but worked on his own as Napoli prepared for their first game against Liverpool.
But Napoli has taken action to ease doubts from fans, who fear that Osimhen could be seriously injured.
Giuntoli revealed that Osimhen suffered only mild discomfort and no injuries.
Speaking in an interview with Kiss Kiss Napoli, Giuntoli said: “He (Osimhen) has a little bit of discomfort in his adjunct, there is no injury, it’s fatigue. It was tiring that he had to meet with the doctor and decided a few hours playing with Liverpool whether to take the risk or not.”
Osimhen scored 14 goals which helped Napoli qualify for the Champions League this season, as the Naples side finished third in Serie A last season.
