Head Coach of Kwara Falcons Baba Jubril has insisted his focus remains to defend the Premier League and once again represent the country at the 2024 edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

The Harmony Warriors finished tops in the first phase of the league in Ibadan Centre, defeating Ebun Comets, Hoops & Reads, and Ondo Raiders, before suffering a 58-67 point defeat to Oluyole Warriors on Day 4. Baba Jubril’s side bounced back on day 5, to secure victory over Invaders.

On the final day of the first phase in Ibadan, the Falcons comprehensively defeated Impressions Academy 75-39 points to claim top spot in the centre.

Speaking with Sports reporters in Ibadan Coach Jubril said that his aim as the handler of the defending Champions is to successfully defend the title and represent the country at next year’s Basketball Africa League.

“As the defending Champions, a lot was expected from us, and finishing the final phase on a high note gives us a lot of confidence as we go to the second phase.”

“Going into the next phase, we’ll be looking to consolidate on our performance in this phase, learn from the only loss we suffered”, Coach Jubril concluded.

According to the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Conference Eight of the Atlantic and Savannah will hold from 4th to 12th November 2023. The top 4 teams from Conference zones in Abuja, Asaba, Lafia and Ibadan will converge at conferences to battle for a final spot at the Finals.
