Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh has taken a swipe at the Jose Peserio-led team after they struggled to earn a 1-1 draw against Lesotho in an opening Group C fixture of the 2026 World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Thursday.

The three-time African champions came from behind to draw the Crocodiles, who had taken the lead inside a pack full Godswill Akpabio Stadium, through Motlomelo Mkhwanazifor inside 56 minutes.

Semi Ajayi, then saved the Super Eagles blushes after he equalized via a corner kick in the 67th minute.

Like Oliseh, the final result was contrary to many Nigerian football fans’ expectations, as the 151st-ranked Crocodiles walked away with a deserved point on a rainy evening in Uyo.

Oliseh shared his thought on Twitter now X on Friday.

“Haba This nightmare go ever end? Woke up to this shocker this morning. “Our Home based suppose dey beat Lesotho na! Dem even first us score!!!! “The painful part be say, no consequences for these national embarrassments self!.”

After the shambling start, the Super Eagles contingent will travel to Rwanda on Sunday to face Zimbabwe in a second group game.
