Roberto Calenda, the agent of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen says he won’t follow up on his threat to sue the club over a pair of questionable TikTok posts.

The Partenopei apologized through an official statement on Thursday. That appears to be enough to put a bow on the controversy, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The club clarified: “To avoid any potential exploitation of the matter, Napoli would like to explicitly state that the club never intended to offend or make fun of Osimhen, who is an asset to the club. Over the course of the summer, Napoli rejected all offers to sign the striker – firm proof of the club’s appreciation of him.

“On social media, and TikTok particularly, expressive language is used in a light-hearted and playful manner. In this case, involving Victor there was no intention of mockery or derision. If Victor was in any way offended, this was not at all in the club’s intentions.”

The striker returned to the stat-sheet against Udinese after a tense lead-up to the contest. Rudi Garcia downplayed the situation in his post-match remarks to DAZN (via TuttoSport).

“I’ve had an excellent relationship with him since the first day I came here. He was unlucky recently but stayed serene, as I told him. He should have kicked the PK because it’s not right to change the taker when he makes a mistake. No harm was meant, neither on TikTok nor by him when he removed his Napoli-related pictures. I can guarantee that he loves this team and will give his 100 percent this season.”
