The goalkeeper of the Teranga Lions of Senegal, Edouard Mendy, has said they are aware that everyone including Nigeria are waiting to claim the title from them.
Senegal won the competition for the first time in their history in 2021 beating the Pharaohs of Egypt in the final.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper made the statement after defeating Cameroon by a lone goal in an international friendly game.
He added that they are ready for the challenge and winning the trophy again remains their objective.
“Everyone’s waiting for us and we’re going to have to respond as calmly as possible. We’ve gained experience.
“We have to hope that the team is complete so that we can progress and produce a fine African Cup.
There’s still a lot of work to do before this African Cup, which is going to be very tough”, he said
