The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan, has charged fans of the club to troop out in large numbers to cheer the team to victory in the Matchday 13 fixture against derby rival Remo Stars.
The 3SC helmsman, who appreciated the supporters and fans for their role in last Sunday’s Matchday 12 against Kwara United at the Akure Township Stadium, said their presence at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday will boost the players’ confidence against Remo Stars.
“I want to appeal to our fans to come out in large numbers to cheer us to victory on Sunday and we promise to give them the desired result”.
He however appealed to them to eschew any form of violence before, during, and after the match, stressing that the club cannot afford to lose any valuable points at this point.
Akoro, as the retired referee is fondly called, insisted that the Oluyole Warriors’ hope of finishing among the top three teams in Group A of the NPFL Abridge league was still possible.
“We are not losing hope as far as picking a continental ticket is concerned. Finishing in the top three is still very much possible. We are on course and I’m sure we will make it” declared the 3SC boss
Honourable Olaniyan, also cleared the air on some other issues regarding the club, including the Dozy Mmobuosi Pre Tourney Prize money, the participation of the club’s feeder team and the U-15 side in the NLO and the NPFL/Laliga Promise Youth League respectively, the issue of website, as well as the relationship between the club and every other stakeholder in the state.
He praised the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for transforming the Lekan Salami Stadium within his first two years in office, making it conducive to hosting the club’s home matches.
