Dependable Nigeria shot-stopper, Stanley Nwabali was named the Man of the Match for his heroics in the victory over South Africa in the 2023 AFCON semi-finals game.
Nwabali has conceded just two goals in six games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwabali saved two penalties in Nigeria’s semi-final penalty shootout win against South Africa to help the Super Eagles advance to the final.
Despite conceding against South Africa, Nwabali now holds the record for most minutes of a Super Eagles goalkeeper to go without conceding in a major tournament.
His run ended at 504 minutes beating Best Ogedegbe’s 396 minutes in 1980 and Ike Shorunmu’s 362 minutes in 2002.
