Super Eagles have failed to secure their first win in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier as they were held at home by South Africa.

The Nigerian side had earlier secured two draws in the match-days 1 and 2.

Playing at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, the Bafana Bafana looked more composed and determined than the Super Eagles right from the blast of the whistle.

And they got rewarded for their efforts in the 29th minute with a well-tàken goal by Zwane.

They almost doubled their lead but the cross-bar saved the day for Nigeria as the first half ended 0-1 in favour of the visitors.

Super Eagles started the second half more disciplined and composed they equalized in the 46th minute through Fisayo Dele-Bashiru off an assist from Alex Iwobi.

Dele-Bashiru was replaced some minutes later after he was injured by the South Africa defender, with Alhassan Yusuf coming to replace him.

All the efforts of the Nigerians to score the winning goal proved abortive as the Bafana Bafana stood their ground to earn a well-deserved draw.

Lesotho are topping Group C with five point with Rwanda in second position with four, same with South Africa who have garnered four points from three games. Super Eagles next opponents, Benin Republic also have four points while Super Eagles came fifth with three points.
