A total of 36 South Sudan nationals sustained injuries in an accident that occurred in Amuru on Monday evening.
It was gathered that the victims sustained critical injuries when a tipper lorry vehicle, registration number, UAV 919H, in which they were travelling overturned in Atiak town council along the Adjumani-Attiak road.
They were travelling from Nyumanzi refugee settlement in Adjumani district where they attended New Year prayers to Nimule in South Sudan.
According to reports, 13 of them were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu for treatment while 23 are admitted at Atiak health centre IV in Amuru district.
Kenneth Okot, the Atiak town council chairperson said on Tuesday that the 13 survivors who were rushed to St Mary’s hospital Lacor needed specialized medical attention, while the 23 at Attiak health centre IV were in stable condition by Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle is reportedly on the run.
