AC Milan are looking to armour the key cornerstones of their project and they want to reward Fikayo Tomori for his development.

After arriving on loan from Chelsea in January 2021 with the option to buy, MilanNews disclosed that the centre-back has been worth every penny of the €28m transfer fee paid to buy him outright last summer.

Simon Kjaer’s injury this year meant Tomori became the leader of the defence as he played 40 games in all competitions and had the third-most minutes of any player in the squad, becoming virtually undroppable.

The dialogues for the renewal of the Englishman already begun a few weeks ago. While he currently has a contract expiring in 2025, there is already a basis of understanding with his agent to extend that deadline with a pay rise to €3m net per season plus bonuses.

There is optimism that the negotiation will soon reach a positive conclusion and another key pillar for the future will be secured.
