Nigeria international and Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen has continued to sustain visibility on the headlines in Italy’s top-flight, drawing attention from both elite clubs and top professionals in European football.

The 24-year-old Lagos born striker has seen his market value skyrocketed from €3.50 million while at VFL Wolfsburg in 2017, to over €100 million in 2023.

His €75 million transfer to Napoli from Lille in 2020, the €24 million transfer to Lille from RSC Chaleroi in 2019, and the €3.50 move to VFL Wolfsburg from Ultimate Strikers Academy (Nigeria) in 2017, all culminate to approximately €104.4 million in six years.

While speaking to Napoli Magazine, an Italian media outlet, Guiseppe Cannela, an Italian Sports Administrator, and current Sporting Director of Siena FC ( a club playing in Italy’s 3rd tier league), expressed his view on Osimhen’s valuable and Napoli’s chances in the forthcoming transfer window.

“In recent years, Napoli have improved a lot with the experiences of the transfer market.

“The reinforcements have been the right ones, the market is always open, and it is normal that in the event of very important offers, the club will not have to be found unprepared.

“When you have a club that supports you and understands that keeping important players means raising all salaries, it is better to sell and reinforce than anything else. 150 million for Osimhen is very good.”

Osimhen currently leads the goal scorers chart in the Série À with 21 goals alongside 5 assists, including 5 strikes in the UEFA Champions League, and is on course for a record Scudetto win with Napoli who are 17 points ahead on the log, with 7 games to go.
