The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not concluded on the appointment of new Super Eagles Coach, a top official of the federation disclosed .
Since February when the contract of former Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro was terminated, the NFF has not named a successor.
Rising from their marathon meeting on Thursday evening at the Secretariat of the Federation, Sunday Dankaro House, Package B of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Chairman and members of the NFF Technical Committee who were present refused to disclose to media, the outcome of their meeting which is basically on appointment of who replaces Jose Peseiro..
The committee did not conclude on who becomes the next three times African champions’ coach but has listed two options for the NFF Executive Committee to approve. The two options are: to appoint a foreign coach from the three shortlisted candidates while other is to appoint an indigenous coach among the top two contenders: Finidi George and Emmanuel Amunike.
Recall that the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh gave the federation two weeks ultimatum to name a substantive coach.
The 2013 African champions have two must-win World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa in Uyo before tackling Benin Republic in the Matchday 4 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Abidjan.
The two matches will be played between June 3rd to 11th, 2024. Super Eagles are placed third with just two points in two matches in Group C.
